Now that the DVDs are a reality, fess up...

I know I couldn't have been the only who signed the petition under like a hundred different names. Or was I the only one with that kind of time on my hands? I figured of 4700 signatures, less than half of them were unique. That's why I was so surprised by how many people pre-ordered the set and how quickly.

D,
When you look at online petitions, you have to figure that at LEAST half are bogus. I know I always do. . . Being someone with 30+ standby email addresses. :-)

In any case, any online petition is going to have people who do this. I don't know if it helps, hurts, or has negligble effect. I don't think it helps or hurts. I think it kind of gets figured into an estimate. If there were 4700, I assumed about 2,500 were legit.

Blimey, it never even occured to me to do this. I'm just too damn honest.

LOL....I've been caught with my hand in the cookie jar!

I totally signed it multiple times. But...but...it was for a very important cause! ;-)

Whatever the total number was, I never figured that half of that number was enough unique signatures to make BMG, or any company for that matter, take notice. I thought that when the pre-preorder list came out, we were screwed, because then you needed actual e-mail addresses and concrete evidence to prove you would shell out the money.

I've been involved in succesful on-line petitions before, but it was years ago and for a different cause. I guess I just didn't realize the demand was as high as it was for these DVDs.

Well, I personally never knew about the petition, I'm not even really THAT much of a MSCL fan. Somebody posted on alt.video.dvd I think it was, maybe I found out on dvdfile.com, but when I heard about the fact that FANS were getting this box-set made, I promptly pre-ordered a set.

I'm sure you got a LOT of pre-orders that way, from people who heard about it after the DVD set was confirmed.

I didn't know about the petition either, but my wife is a big MSCL fan, and she pointed me at the DVD (with a "hint hint" email :-) after the project had kicked off. I suspect DVDfile's mention also got some folks who wouldn't have seen it otherwise.

So figure that at least some of those faked petition signings were "by proxy" for those of us who hadn't seen it then but still ordered a set later....

I actually never knew about the petition either, but saw a mention of it in Entertainment Weekly a few weeks ago, and went to pre-order it then. I talked to a lot of people who had seen that mention as well, which probably led to at least some of the pre-orders

Okay I admit that I signed up using a couple of my different email accounts, but I also signed up my sisters and friends. It all paid off though because then they got the updates and voila!

One of the reviews for the previously released MSCL video/DVD included a link to order the whole set at AU. There were so many reviewers at Amazon who said they wanted the whole set that I considered emailing all of them to let them know it is now available, and then I saw that someone else mentioned the AU set so hopefully all of those MSCLers ordered their DVDs! =)
