Jason's Survey About Refunds

Post by pgh kenny » Oct 30th 2002, 12:59 pm

I just got a request to fill out a survey from Jason concerning whether or not I had received a refund from AU after cancelling. I wonder if anyone else was in this situation:

1) I had a double charge, which was fixed by my credit card company.
2) I cancelled my order.
3) I received a credit of 79.98 from anotheruniverse.com and due to the
timing, I can't tell whether that was a partial refund for cancelling or
whether it was a very late refund of a double charge. The transaction
type indicates 'return'.
4) Net result: anotheruniverse.com owes me $20.

Does that count as a "No Refund" on the survey?

I think it does if you've asked AU to credit you that and they've said they will but failed to do it.

Somewhere on here Ross did say the deposit would be refunded...

stop to complain Kenny! I can't take it anymore. I mean, it's so easy: just call AU (they'll answer the phone after the first ring), tell them that they owe you 20 bucks. And they'll immediately credit you. For sure. Really Ross promised.

btw, since you'll call AU anyway, you could order: "cheat, steal, lie - Infomercial Man's guide to success" by RR. It's an exclusive preorder/prepay deal

OH MY GOD

No sooner do I respond to Jason's email saying that I had not been credited, when my nice CC company sends me one saying that I have now been credited!!!!!

Just double checked my statement and there are 3 refunds showing (for the two charges AND the deposit)

Only thing I am not sure is whether this refund has come from AU OR whether it is my CC company since I am disputing the charges (It is listed on my statement as an Adjustment)

Still at least I have had my money back - Amazon here I come.

The survey specifically says that chargebacks don't count.

It is not uncommon for AU to not respond to a credit card company inquiry. You might have received a provisional credit from them, or it might have been AU. More than likely it was your card.

I recommend calling to find out.

Also, here are the current survey results, as of 1:07pm EST:
Total responses: 328
Yes: 44
No: 284
Percent refunded: 13%

Bear in mind, this survey only went to those marked as "processed."

My report was supposedly "processed" (per an auto-mail from mike@anotheruniverse.com) on August 27th, but I didn't get this latest survey.

Just want to make sure I take advantage of every opportunity to make Another Universe look bad that I can. :-)

The last time I called AU, they stated that there was a note on my record that I had contested the charge with my bank. I believe that AU has taken the position that once the charges are contested, they are no longer responsible for refunding them.

Has Authorize.net really started a real investigation into all this, for real?

Jason,

the survey? I cancelled my order, and eventually everything went through. But I never needed a refund because I cancelled the order in time. so . . . should I not fill out the survey or should I mark "I got a refund?"
a bit confusing.

don't respond to it, as it doesn't really apply. you were not charged.

Ah, gotcha. Thanks for the info, and for all the time you're still putting into this.

I would imagine that AU cannot just ignore it (or shrug off their responsibility to refund) when you contest the charges,
since the only way they are going to get the credit card company
off of their backs is if they issue a credit, right??? If your credit
card gives you the money, they are going to want it from AU.

This is just me speculating, but I cannot imagine it being otherwise.

Oy! I ordered with a debit card and the bank requires me to give them the card and fill out a complaint for them to investigate.

Ostensibly i'll receive a new card in 7-10 days.
