It was a LIE.
I called today, and Thomas took a look at my account. Nothing had been done AT ALL. I told Thomas that I recieved said email, and and email from Ross, saying it would be canceled, and asked him if those were lies. He told me that Ross was the boss there, and if he said something, then it would have been a lie. He said somewhere along the way something must have gotten misplaced. Thomas then said he'd cancel my order, and send the refund request to the accounting department. I asked if he realized that if I didn't recieve my refund within 30 days, that they're breaking the law, and he just said that he usually worked in the warehouse, so he wasn't familiar with internet buisness laws.
Thomas was very polite, and never treated me like I hear Wade treating people. Very pleasant. I just hope the rest of the company actually follows through this time.

What, I got this e-mail last night. Do you mean that I am not going to see my money back anyway... I wanted to give AU 3 days until it showed up on the online report but is it a mistake? I still think that if I don't see mt refund, I got something against them and VISA will have to dispute my transaction. What should I do? wait, call, etc? God, I hate this mess and I just want my money back...

Spooky. I (just this minute) got the very same email. I wonder how many more are reading the same one right now...

... Hey, at least I have something to show my bank.

To be completely fair, the way I see it:
A- Mike just hasn't submitted his cancel notices, like he said;
B- The database that Thomas is looking at is not current, or is not the same one that Mike looks at;
C- Mike is sending these emails just to calm people down, and has no intention of following through;
D- Mike/AU wants people to think they are canceled, so AU can keep the money and not send you the dvds (hey, you canceled, right?)
E- God walked on the earth and smote Mike, thus he was unable to carry out his mission of Grand Refunds. (joke)
Please call AU yourself and verify if your account is canceled/refunded. I can only verify my own experiences. Maybe the mistake was on mine alone.
BUT, the email is DEFINITELY worth showing or telling about to your bank.

Me too! Exact same e-mail just arrive in my in-box.
Mike McCullough has taken your problem out of the queue. This is usually a sign that it has been processed, however, Dry Grass Partners, LLC cannot control how the site is used. If this email is in response to a billing error, we recommend allowing 1-3 business days for the change to
post. If it does not show up in this time, call 888-5-COMICS or call your credit card company.

I don't know what to believe really. I still think it is weird that those of us who got the e-mail yesterday got credit submitted but the e-mails that went out today says refund submitted. Maybe Mike really did cancel but they are so slow at AU it didn't show right now.
I have no idea... if only I could be closer to AU and not far away in Quebec. I sent a fax and e-mailed Mike about it and if I really have to I will call them.
I also called "office de la protection des consommateurs" in Quebec (where you can file complaints). Of course they cannot help me because AU is outside of Quebec but the guy I spoke to was very nice and told me to print my e-mail that Mike send me and send it to VISA so they can reverse the transaction.
Actually, if AU has no intention to really give back the money, maybe they are sending the e-mails so we can show the e-mail to our CC company who will reverse the transaction. I have no idea but I did tell Mike and AU that if they were sending e-mails to people saying that they will credit us, well they were in bigger troubles than they are right now. I mean they are giving us proof against them. How stupid can someone be? You can use the e-mail against them easily if they don't refund your order.
Everything is just weird... I was all happy about the e-mail last night but now, I am back to being mad an anxious.

Hello Guys and Gals!
I too canceled my order yesterday (10/15) by filling out an AU customer service form, and received an e-mail from Mike McCullough saying that my order had been cancelled and my refund submitted. However, I just called AU and spoke with Wade, who was surpirsingly pleasant, and told him that I wanted to confirm my cancellation. He told me that the person who deals with the cancellations was not in today, but that he could check to make sure that my order was canceled, and surprise, it wasn't! So, Wade cancelled my order and told me that my refund would be credited to my card. CALL and make sure your order is indeed canceled!
Hang in there people!

I just called and spoke to Wade. And guess what - my order wasn't cancelled. He pulled it off the drygrass form and said he was doing it just then...
He gave the usual answers about being backlogged etc and that the accounting department were backlogged. I asked if the accounting department had a direct line and of course the answer is no.
In Wade's defence he was very polite and said he was entering my cancellation just then and I'd get it asap.
We'll see...

I cancelled by email to Ross and the Drygrass form on Tuesday 10/14.
In my email to Ross, I requested a confirmation by reply email. Yeah right...
that is something that is gonna happen!!!
Later that day I received the little blurb from Mike McCollough. Not an email from him, but that record-thing that shows he read my email.
I also called AU on 10/14 and got "Thomas" on the phone. Since Ross was out of town on Tuesday, he did not receive my email. So I reiterated my cancellation request to Thomas on the phone. He says he put the cancellation order in.
Bottom line? After all this, I still don't feel confident in getting my money back from these people.

I asked for that too, and immediately I got the laconic "I'll take care of that for you." So yeah, my cancelation's confirmed.

I
did get my refund, though.

I called toaday (6pm British time) and got through straight away. I told Wade I wished to confirm that my refund had gone through - and he was very polite in confirming that it hadn't.
He went on to tell me that he "could do that" for me and then put me on hold for about a minute. I started to think that he was going to just leave me there dangling but when he came back it kinda felt like he'd been discussing me with someone. **He probably hadn't, it may have been my paranoia.** Anyway, he then went onto recite the same old story everyone else has been hearing; ... backlog... accounting department... not sure when it will go through...
I hung up feeling like I'd been fobbed off because at the beginning of the phone call Wade sounded like he was going to refund me.
