Whereas I, Jason, assume that he's talking about me. ^_^
I am sympathtic to the consumers. I am one of them, after all. I am looking forward to my set as much as, if not more than (if you'll pardon my pride in my fandom), any of us. The difference is that I went to LA, interviewed Marshall and Ed and Winnie, and hung out with Ross all day talking about how cool the set is shaping up to be. And obviously not everyone has the benefit of being so involved.
The circumstances surrounding this set are not "more than a little suspicious", imho. The various temporary SNAFUs that have popped up over the course of this project thus far may have been cause for suspicion, but I think that Jason has been quick to address each one and, now that he has the ability, has been quick to resolve each matter.
Ross is planning on releasing many other shows to DVD. MSCL is just the trial run to get to know the process, the proof-of-concept to prove to the DVD community that he can and will do everything in his power to do it right. If he screws this one up, it's all been for naught. As big as AU is, Ross isn't going to do something to blow its reputation simply to rip off 3k people for $100/each.

The lucky one was me. Interviewing Winnie, Marshall, and Ed was an experience and a half! I can't speak highly enough about the three of them of giving their time to this project.
I also got to hang out with Ross, the gentleman who, unlike every other company that MSCL.com approached, saw the market for extras-packed collectible DVD releases of "niche" shows. I am excited by his plans for further releases and by his understanding that selling to diehard fans requires providing a quality product.

So there you have it. It appears that Ross was hoping to get into putting out collectible DVD release of "niche" shows. It even appears that at one point there was talk of doing this with Jason and Gord. (you will see this if you check the URLs.)
This was Jason's first attempt at doing this (although he had knowledge of the business due to his work at BMG ... sitting in on DVD development meetings etc). This was also Ross's first attempt at this (with no experience). Jason acted as Consultant and then Customer Service person for Ross during this project.
Jason discovered (through this process) that he could do this on his own.
Jason and Gord joined forces as Dry Grass Partners and have (had) been claiming all credit for the MSCL DVD set. (on various websites ... search around they'll turn up)
hell, I'm dead tired ...
I don't know, but this really doesn't look good.
I posted the other day about BMG telling Ross that someone was trying to take the MSCL DVD project away from him and bring in another company (ie Ventura). (its around somewhere - BMG revelation to Ross)
I wonder if Jason is getting accurate info from BMG irt meetings with Ross etc.
