Cash Back?

Is anyone else out there concerned about cancelling their AU order and never seeing their money again? I've been double-charged, I'm considering going to Amazon, but quite frankly I'm scared that if I do then I'm out about $200....I rarely order online, and I've certainly never had an experience like this, so to those of you who are educated in this area, if that were to happen, what could a person do about it? :?

I think it all depends on when you pre-ordered and if you used a credit card or not. If you used a CC and it was within 60 days or so (depends on credit card company), then I would strongly suggest contacting your credit card company and ask them to place the charges on dispute after you notify AU of your cancellation request. I believe this would be your best approach. I did this with my double-charge and my credit card company took care of it and my order with AU was cancelled.

Hollis, like it was said, check with your credit card company. Some banks will have varying protections. Make sure you speak with a manager. The reason the dispute is "late" is because the product did not ship on the promised 9/17/02 date. Thus, the awareness of the breach by AU did not occur until that date. I would try explaing that to your CC company. Try being a bit persistent.

If that is no help, the next option is to pressure AU. Make a complaint to the local Attorney general if AU wont give you a prompt credit. By prompt, I would expect it within 7 days. This should help you decide what you are going to do about buying it elsewhere.

Beyong that, there really isn't a whole heck of a lot which can be done. Filing a small claims lawsuit is probably not worth your while.

I get the feeling if you cancel your order AU will just put your refund in the same queue with the rest of the double/triple charges, meaning you'll never see your money again. Ever.
