Will it cost us more to maintain a presence there to ensure lower oil prices, or will it be more expensive to withdraw and deal with higher prices? Yes, I fear this may well be what it comes down to (representing the neorealist viewpoint in international relations). I rather suspect this will be a ...

Yeah, this has been reported over here too. It sounds like it got pretty heated. Certainly from the way the BBC reported it, they ran the two things juxtaposed, so it sounded pretty damning... To be honest, I don't really know how I feel about an exit strategy. I mean, part of me thinks 'stay in the...

Impressive scarves! I'm jealous of the weather in California. Although, I do really like getting wrapped up warm and torturing myself with a walk in the cold and drizzle, so I can tramp into a pub and have a half of real ale and some scampi fries! It's all worth it, just for that :D Mr. S and I were...

OK today, it is officially COLD for the first time this year. I had to get out my big coat that looks like a duvet... it's cold, but clear and crisp, which i like. Apparently this year in the UK we are in for a very cold winter indeed; Coldest winter for decade could spark energy crisis By Angela Ja...

that dog is adorable! 8) I did not get dressed up for Halloween this year. But (and this is an improvement on last year) I was prepared to receive trick-or-treaters with goodies! Last year I felt so bad that I'd forgotten and had nothing to give the kids that knocked on the door, so this year I made...

That is disgusting. They should be thanking those soldiers, who have risked everything in order to chase some (oil)pipedream of Bush and Rumsfeld. The fact that they are being hit by debt collectors is despicable.

Let's hope that the media coverage puts a stop to this.

Ahh I am familiar withe the "joys" of hauling one's worldly possessions. Good luck with that. -LanceMan Between the ages of 19-23 I made sure all my worldly possessions could fit into the back of a citroen saxo for exactly that reason. Two trips? Out of the question. If it doesn't fit, it's not goi...

I feel for you - that's terrible. I doubt your landlord truly understands what an upheaval this is, right at the wrong time. Still, it's horrendous. I can't imagine trying to go househunting right in the middle of term. Ugh. (I'm having various trauma-related stress attacks in relation to my compute...

I had to come in here this morning and post on this thread because.... Paul Anka's album 'Rock Swings' was actually advertised on UK TV last night, during an episode of House. I nearly fell off my chair.... :sickgreen: I couldn't hear the cover version of 'jump' on that radio broadcast, but ...

Just finished Prisoner of Azkaban, and it is a definite turning point for me. The story seemed so much more interesting; more subplots (Hermione's timetable, the Quidditch cup, Lupin etc) than in the previous two books. Near the end, it was actually difficult for me to stop reading! I picked up the ...

and one lucky SOB to boot! What bothers me most is that it isn't really down to luck. Most of it is contrived nepotism of the highest order, and plenty of behind the scenes cunning. I'm not suggesting that he is in any way responsible for Renquist's death, only that much of what has happened...
