I picked up the Season 5 DVD's this week as well, and finished watching them this evening. Much to my surprise, I liked it quite a bit more than watching it during the original airing. As far as I can tell I was so bitter about the last episode of Season 4 ("Home") that it actually affected my enjoy...

Before Sunset

Was anticipating this film very much once I heard about it, and have finally seen it. Liked it a great deal, and was surprised to hear Julie Delpy sing, and even more surprised to hear that she has actually released some of her music. [spoiler]And no film can go wrong making Nina Simone the sound of...

Jordan and Rayanne

For what it's worth, I always thought that Jordan and Rayanne made more sense as a couple than Angela and Jordan. Both of them had learning curves to move through, and they might not have worked as a couple, but I always had a deeply pessimistic view of Angela and Jordan together. The hesitation in ...

Who Can't Read?

Just something that occurred to me is that while the episode may be titled "Why Jordan Can't Read," Angela has some issues as well, if we consider that Angela misreads "Red." And, in her headlong rush to realize her vision of Jordan in her life, she extends the misreading into the delusion that is i...

Regarding the list of songs -- Very confused. It's not singles, so any song should qualify. Stunned by the idea that there were no Sonic Youth songs pre-1988/ Goo . That there were as many Icicle Works and Guadalcanal Diary (to use two examples of bands who had a song or songs that I like on the lis...

I did go see TTT last night. For a quick assessment, I would say not quite as good at FotR, but still better than most anything I expect to see in the next little while. SPOILER (minor) * * * * * * * Christopher Lee's reaction to the word "children" is classic. Prompted quite a bit of reckless inter...

My major contribution would be "It Takes Two" by Rob Base and DJ EZ Rock. Once voted by Spin magazine to be the top single of the last 25 years (c. 1989 or 1990). In a slightly more serious vein, no Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five? "White Lines"? "The Message"? Or, even for the crossover appe...

The Power of the Pen/Pencil

I suspect this will end up being more than a little tangled, but a couple of things started to run together in my mind, and I just thought everyone should be forced to confront for a moment the laborings of an unsound mind. Anyway, when I was watching "In Dreams Begin Responsibilities" the other day...

Angela Is the Bicycle Thief

Was anyone else struck by the irony that after Jordan failed to show up to meet Angela's parents so she could take him to The Bicycle Thief that when he does finally show up and meet Graham -- in "Pressure" -- Angela subsequently steals Brian's bicycle to go meet him?

Oh, and hi everyone.
