Re: Freaks Geeks and Dawson’s Creek

Just to say I've read this now and it's really good - worth a read both for MSCL and the other shows it covers (which often link in with MSCL)

Freaks Geeks and Dawson’s Creek

Rolling stone have a preview of a book about ‘seven shows that transformed television’ of which MSCL is obviously a major part - https://www.rollingstone.com/tv-movies/ ... 234778131/

Re: Afraid to watch the last episode!

Not totally 90s but still worth a watch I would try: - Wonderfalls which is just weird but really fun and you really feel for the main character - Life Unexpected - only two seasons but really powerful - Friday Night Lights - don't be put off by the american football, that's just the transport mecha...

The Wilds

Nice article about the new Amazon show The Wilds and how MSCL is one of the creator's "favourite shows of all time" https://ew.com/tv/the-wilds-amy-b-harris-preview/

Re: Discussion for Episode 10: Other People's Mothers

I don't blame you - I just finished re-watching Friday Night Lights (you should definitely watch if you haven't, don't be put off by the football!) and as I got to the final season I had to slow down as I didn't want it to finish!

Re: Blu-Ray release? It is real?

Sadly it looks pretty fake judging by the cutting of the paper cover, plus as far as I know all the film has been lost so there is no way to up-scale the quality of the video to even current SD quality.

That's great! Wish I'd known sooner and I'd have tried to get over to see some of it!

SNL

See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i7k5S_vrv04 for what appears to be a SNL parody of MSCL, Friday Night Lights, Freaks and Geeks and various other shows

Handmaids tale

In season 2 episode 3 of Handmaid’s Tale the lead’s mother (in flashback) tells her that ‘you used to want to be a Supreme Court judge’ to which she replies ‘I also wanted to marry Jordan Catalano’ which was nice.

Everything Sucks

Everything Sucks has just landed on Netflix and is worth a watch. Set around the time of MSCL many reviews have referenced the similarities. The costume designer also cites MSCL as one of her key references. I liked it.
