OK to post a link to a clip of the intro?

Howdy folks, and Happy New Year. After all this time, MSCL is still one of my all-time favorite shows. I just finished making a high-quality video clip of the intro (title sequence), which I always thought was a masterpiece, even by itself. (That theme song alone still gives me chills.) I know you h...

Followed by bitter irony if said kiddie manages to hack our CC info. :(

Exactly.

Ross appears to be one of those pathological cases who thinks that every problem in his life is someone else's fault. What a loser.

Re: Some thoughts about the DVD sound

I just received the set (also from Amazon) and promptly sampled each of the discs, and noticed the same thing. I actually thought my centre speaker had been disconnected. :| Yup. I did a fair amount of hair-pulling trying to figure out what had gone wrong with my rig. Then after I went up & stuck m...

Re: Some thoughts about the DVD sound

<snip>Also, the 5.1 bass channel seems a lot hotter than normal - around 6-8 dB higher than the bass levels in the 2-channel track, which puts it way over the top on my system. A quick update: This 5.1 bass problem seems to start with Disc 2! After going back & checking Disc 1 again, the 5.1 bass i...

For financial reasons, I haven't gotten the box set yet, but I wonder, why'd they try Dolby 5.1 sound in the first place? It seems like overkill for a television drama filmed in 1993-94. My guess would be marketing - "because it's there." They got 5 channels and by god they're gonna use 'em. Also, ...

Some thoughts about the DVD sound

Howdy folks. First & foremost: I (STILL) LOVE THIS SHOW! I'm about 1/3 of the way through the DVD box set (Amazon), and am digging it righteously. I still get a chill when I hear the intro song for god's sake! Just finished watching "Why Jordan Can't Read," and that scene where Angela gets out of hi...

Sorry if I was a little overzealous. From this end, it was just so nice to see something tangible after all this. I should've realized that the whole thing might look completely different by now, from your point of view.

Re: Any certain time you all like to watch MSCL?

I've noticed that every fall I break out the MSCL box sets. That's what brought me to this board. Maybe it's because the crisp cool days outside are what are so often shown on the show. Or maybe it's because it's the start of a new school year, new beginnings and it's nice to return to the familiar...

Jason, have you been to Best Buy lately?

If not, you might want to swing by there when you get a chance - it's a helluva pretty sight. As I mentioned in another thread, I'm due to get mine from Amazon in a day or two, but I did go to Best Buy just to look at them, all lined up on the shelf. Do yourself a favor & go see what you did! Thanks...

When I got there at 11 sharp yesterday, an hour after they opened, they had already sold three sets. They had enough copies to fill 2 shelves, two-units deep! Oh, man... I'm due to get mine from Amazon in a day or two, so I'm not going to bother to cancel with them, but I am gonna get in my car rig...

<snip> Also noticing a white line or something on the top of the screen? The white line appeared on another disc too. I could be wrong about this, but I think this stuff that people are seeing at the top of the screen is Closed Caption data. It should only be visible when viewing on a computer, whi...

Nah, you're not a freak. I can't skip this one, or the ones for Buffy or MST3K either. They're just great intros!

<snip> ...Anyone? Anyone? What are your video quality reviews? DB Sounds like this set is roughly the same quality as the original Ep. 1-3 DVD. so, was the pilot actually done on film, or tape? just wondering if anyone knew that. Both. :? The pilot (as well as the rest of the series) was shot on film, which gives it that nice "film look." But the raw footage was then immediately transferred to videotape for editing & distribution, as Derek...
