Re: Discussion for Episode 19: In Dreams Begin Responsibilit

Just passing by with a thought.

As a straight man, Jordan's speech to Patty (the "It's like you think you're safe or something" part) is one of the sweetest, most romantic things I've ever heard in my life.

Re: What do you think they would be doing now?

Hmmmm. I'm borrowing from the girlfriend's fan fiction and adding my own twists to it. This is 15 years down the line. Angela and Jordan would have dated for a few years - maybe even until she graduated from high school - but I don't think it would have gone much further. Once it ended, Angela would...

Re: Speaking Sharon

I find it interesting that Brian is willing to learn from Rickie, but not from Mr. Racine who also shows him something very different than he is used to. Why do you think this is? And that was a really nice observation about how Sharon sees Rayanne as exciting or rather "refreshing" too, but can re...

Re: Skins

A friend of mine who shares my love for Skins and MSCL once described Skins as "My So-Called Life, if all the girls were Rayanne and all the boys were Jordan."

Re: Amber: Good or bad mother?

Certainly I don't think Amber is a candidate for mother of the year. However, I don't think it's fair to call her a bad mother either. Whatever her flaws as a parent, she provides a loving home for Rayanne (something which not all the characters on the show have, especially Rickie and to a lesser ex...

Re: Could Delia actually forgive Brian?

That was basically my view.

Delia doesn't need Brian. She has Rickie as her friend and she can find another guy. Brian doesn't mean anything much to her - just a guy she thought was cute.

Re: The Importance of Having a Jordan

Being chronically guilty of relating the show (and, to be fair, all things I watch on TV) to my own life - I would totally buy into Bri and Rayanne together cause I have seen such relationships happen. How do they work? Like a meteorite, generally - burst out of nowhere, have a few moments of brilli...

Re: Discussion for Episode 4: Father Figures

Whoa. Father Figures. Like Rayanne, I grew up with an absentee father ... which is why there were times during this episode where I wanted to slap Angela for whining about how her daddy's having an affair that she isn't even sure of. Rayanne's end speech which brings Angela back to Earth literally ...

I think she could, but I don't really think she'd want to.

Re: The Importance of Having a Jordan

Interesting topic for sure. Being a man and more inclined towards Jordan than Brian in terms of how I interact with others - especially in relationships - I don't really think I can add much here.

Re: RCBS's Music Thread

Love Rage. I saw them a few years ago at a festival here. One of the great sets of my life. My song for the day: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=363wCcJdSbA&ob=av2e Without Mudhoney there would have been no Nirvana or any other alternative revolution, I never would have discovered Nevermind and Super...

Re: RCBS's Music Thread

We used to do covers of Drawing Flies and Big Dumb Sex in one of my old bands, only I never have had anything close to Cornell's vocal power. I can hit all the notes, but can't hold them unless I'm singing falsetto. Some music from me now... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=prjVGQWNyE4 Aussie punk roc...

Re: Discussion for Episode 4: Father Figures

Whoa. Father Figures. Of all the episodes, this and Other People's Mothers are (for me) the hardest to get through by far. First time I watched the series I almost packed it in after this episode but ended up sitting through The Zit and changing my mind. Like Rayanne, I grew up with an absentee fath...

Re: Discussion for Episode 15: So-Called Angels

I admit the end sequence made me cry as well. And I just watched the episode again today, and I'm more convinced than ever that Juliana Hatfield wasn't actually dead until she appeared to Patty as an angel. One particular thing - when Angela takes off her warm boots and leaves them with her, she tak...
