Re: Bess Armstrong in Pecker

It's been a while since I've seen this movie, but I'm pretty sure that Mary Kay Place is in it also, and she has a much larger part. She plays Pecker's mom if I remember correctly. I remember thinking that it was funny to see both Patty and Camille in a movie together. Of course, I could be wrong.

Re: First & Last Names

I always found the whole first and last name thing kind of funny but I think of it as MSCL-speak. I think that every (good) show on television exists in it's own little world complete with catch phrases, trademark dialogue and it's own unique pacing. As long as it's consistent, it's fine. Also, I al...

Re: new topic? Characters you identify with

I'm going to have to be predictable and say that I identify most with Angela although I do see parts of myself in Brian (mostly the unrequited love thing). As for whether or not Angela knew that Brian liked her, I've always thought that she knew all along. She admits that she is always taking advant...

Re: What are Lifer's watching these days?

I was so excited when I first read that quote from Joss- my three favorite shows of all time mentioned in a single sentence! And I completey agree with you about BtVS and Buffy's relationship with Spike. I'm still reeling from Tuesday's episode- it was so sad and sweet!

Re: Claire Danes in To Gillian on Her 37th Birthday

I know that a lot of people found this movie kind of dull and pointless, but I really enjoyed it. One of my theater professors in college was obsessed with the play that the movie was based on (he even named one of his daughters Gillian) so maybe some of his enthusiasm rubbed off on me. Anyway, I th...

Re: NIGHTJESSI

Now, I don't want to be mean and ruin the happy, argument-free vibe that this board normally has, but I really must defend our NIGHTJESSI. You see, I'm pretty sure that most of us enjoy seeing MSCL alums in movies, TV shows, etc, but we don't have the time to seek them out. NIGHTJESSI does all the d...

Re: Favorite Movies???

After I had posted my original list, I realized that I had forgotten lots of movies, and Before Sunrise is one of them. I love this movie, although I can understand that some people would find it incredibly boring. Personally I'm a big fan of "talky" movies. I would rather listen to good conversatio...

Re: Favorite Movies??? - Ghost World

I mentioned Ghost World in my original post as one of the best movies that I'd seen in the past year, but I think I'm going to have to add it to my list of all-time favorites. It's dark and bitingly funny and intelligent- everything that I want a movie to be. I thought that it perfectly captured tha...

Re: A.J. Langer in Seinfeld

You know, I've seen almost every episode of Seinfeld, but I've never seen this one. Speaking of MSCL alums guest starring on TV shows, did anyone happen to catch Tom Irwin on CSI last Thursday? I only saw the very end but it looked like he was playing the "bad guy".

Re: Claire Danes in Home for the Holidays

I saw this movie once when it first came out so I don't remember it too well. It was kind of funny and sweet, but I wouldn't go out of my way to see it again. If you were interested in watching it just for Claire, don't bother: her role in this movie is so small it's practically nonexistent.

Re: titles

Thanks for the info Sascha. Somehow, knowing that the titles are actually obscure literary references makes me like them a lot more!

episode titles

Am I the only one who thinks that the official titles for the episodes are pretty lame? I mean, "Why Jordan Can't Read"? (That brings to mind images of Tori Amos in leather and big hair.) Before I knew that they actually had titles, I just made up my own. For instance, instead of "Guns and Gossip" I...

I'm an elitist snob!

Maybe this sounds horrible, but I'm sort of glad that MSCL wasn't that popular-that way being a fan makes you feel like you are part of some exclusive club. I've always been like this, though- I liked Nirvana until it got to the point where it wasn't possible to turn on the radio without hearing "Sm...

Re: Claire Danes in Little Women

Is he? I've seen Little Women several times and I don't remember Jared being in it. Maybe I just missed him. Speaking of Jared Leto, I just saw the trailer for the new Jodie Foster movie Panic Room and it looks like Jared (or someone who looks very much like him) plays a "bad guy". Does anyone know ...

Re: Jared Leto in American Psycho -- WARNING: possible FC sp

He plays the character Angel Face- the one that Tyler beats to a bloody pulp. He has bleach blonde hair so it's hard to recognize him. I would reccomend Requiem For a Dream, too. He was also in this little indie flick called Sunset Strip. It's not a great movie, but it's worth watching to see Jared ...
