Here's the quote from the transcript: Brian: So they picked a theme, for yearbook. Angela: Who told you I liked Jordan Catalano? Brian: Nobody... so do you?... Angela... ["Everybody Hurts" kicks in] [Angela stops at the corner, seeing her father talking to a young woman outside their cars. She turns...

MSCL: It Hurts So Good?

Does anyone else find it psychologically painful to watch MSCL? When I watch it, I find myself constantly cringing, wincing, grimacing, clenching my teeth, and just generally writhing in agony. It occurred to me that the fact that I continue to subject myself to this abject mental torment must make ...
Here's a Tino question (if I, and possibly many others havn't already brought it up): in "Off the Wagon" Rayanne says, "Tino'd be telling me now if he were in school" how should we take it?
I think he was literally a student at Liberty High just like the other kids. My gu...

I only recently heard about the show. I first learned about it when I was reading articles about the MTV show Daria which I had recently discovered and become addicted to. I noticed that many of them were comparing Daria to MSCL so I did a google search for MSCL and came to this website, just to see...

I think the fact that the main character is a girl probably reduced the male viewership considerably. Most of the female viewers probably identify with Angela, whereas, I'm guessing that most of the male viewers identify with Brian.

I think we actually agree on a number of points. Let me just respond to a few minor things: While she may have the potential to be intellectually attracted to him, she does not seem to acknowledge anything sexual between them. I totally agree that she doesn't think of him in a sexual way... yet. I b...

This is a good debate. I'd like to respond to a few of Gilly's points: ---------------- I think that On the Wagon shows us that Jordan and Angela do have conversations about things that matter to them and that their relationship is continually evolving. I went carefully through the transcript of On ...

response

Thanks for reading and responding to my post, Jody Barsch. Let me continue the discussion by responding to a few of your points. ---------------- First, I don’t believe that before the series began Brian and Angela were close at all. In their childhoods yes, but not recently, not freshman year, not ...

Hi

Hi, I'm new here. I found out about this show after I first became addicted to MTV's animated show: Daria. I found that nearly every newspaper or magazine article written about Daria compared it to "My So-Called Life." So I was initially interested in MSCL just to see how it had influenced Daria, bu...

Here's where I got that from: Dan: When you wrote the final episode, did you know at that point that there wouldn't be any more? Winnie: No, that's why the episode is the way it is. I mean, the episode... I was pretty...it was really unclear. This is from the partial transcript of the Bonus DVD inte...

Jordan is an illusion

First, I'd like to point out the differences between Angela's crush on Jordan, and Brian's crush on her. Angela fantasizes about Jordan. Aside from the fact that she finds him extremely physically attractive (as many teenage girls apparently do) her entire crush is based on her perception of what he...

most tragic way to end a great series

As I understand it, It was meant to be the season finale but it was assumed that there would be a second season so it was never intended to be a proper series finale. Therefore, I think we have to consider MSCL an unfinished work. Unfinished works of art can still be very meaningful and important (l...
