Can someone answer this question for me? Who the hell still makes their site to a 640x480 screen res spec? That is insane.

Better than ever?

After a brief absence AnotherUniverse.com has returned. For the next few weeks we will be fine-tuning some of the graphical elements of the site, but the shopping cart system is up working better than ever before. So please take a look around at what we have started and keep checking back and see what we are adding.

Sweet, apparently their popular items are done automatically, cause those were the exact ones I saw orders of 999 items each placed for (multiple times).

There's enough open to really mess with the site apparently. Someone should pick the most inane item to get to number 1.

I just love that it doesn't seem to check for valid VISA numbers. I wonder if they're even bothering with orders yet.

I'm very concerned that people are flooding the site with fake information and jamming up their system with orders. Very concerned.

For example, if someone goes to the AU site and opens a prank account with a dummy number, they can pretend to order hundreds and hundreds of MSCL sets. I'm very concerned that is why the MSCL set is at the top of the list of orders. I'm concerned about the logisitical headaches this might cause AU.

I didn't really believe that this was possible, so I tried it myself solely so I can advise others not to do it. You can see for yourself that you can do it so you know not to.

I have to admit, it was I, Ross Rojek living at
Cellblock C
StatePrison, CA
that ordered 999 copies of "you're under arrest"
You can reach me at sales@anotheruniverse.com

Now, I wouldn't want anyone else to accidently order things like "I" just did....

Interestingly, as of now the au site is down again, maybe he has been inundated by orders :?:

Yeah, its broke again. Now http://www.anotheruniverse.com forwards to proto.anotheruniverse.com , while just anotheruniverse.com is the same as its been since the site went down the first time. Apparently whatever cheap server they are using reads www. differently than if you didn't type it.

What I like is the fact that these work too:

http://ross-rojek-is-my-jail-bitch.anotheruniverse.com/

http://ross-rojek-is-dead.anotheruniverse.com/

Type in whatever you want...I'm sure their access logs will be an interesting read.

Actually, that's a very good point.
I used to work for a company that shall remain nameless.
One disgruntled customer typed in www.#######.com/GIVEMEMYMONEYBACKYOU F#####GB####RDS
and then hit refresh so often that it became one of the most requested web pages.
My job was to produce and publish web stats for our websites,
and having never seen this trick before,
proceeded to publish the stats on our live site.
Much merriment was had when it was discovered.

The only thing better than working for a ftse 100 company
is seeing it utterly humliated by a little guy :)

Way to go!

I just found out today that the shop was back up. Haven't been around lately.

This stuff is hilariousl.

But what a bummer! I can't get it to let me even put anything in my cart! :P

I was a bit surprised when i checked, and Ross hasn't grabbed up any similar domain names, that i tried anyway.

Just thought he might want to change it a bit, or funnel them all to the same place.

Feels good

This feels actually too good to be true. On my usual weekly visit to AU's webshop I was positively surprised. The site kicks you to a site of the service provider, which says:
This Account Has Been Suspended

Please contact the billing/support department as soon as possible @ (XXX) XXX-XXXX.
Try here. Satisfaction guaranteed!

Ross, this isn't a money issue, is it? :P

EDIT: Sorry, it's back again. Seems like it was an few hour outage.

Well, the Another Universe website is back up...but the "Contact Us" and "About Us" links are broken. There is a number for phone orders up on the front page, though. I guess I'll have to call that number soon to find out where the hell my lunch box and bonus DVD is, since it seems like a lot of folks have gotten them and I've got squat...
